Meet the course coordinators

Chanelle Naidoo is born and bred in Cape Town. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Cape Town, and an honours degree in geography from UNISA. Most recently she also qualified as a teacher by completing a postgraduate diploma in education. Before working at the Two Oceans Aquarium Education Foundation, her previous employment was working as people and environmental officer for the City of Cape Town, and as  environmental educator at Kirstenbosch botanical gardens. She joined the Aquarium in 2014 as an assistant educator. Many of our school groups, that visit our environmental education centre, are greeted by Chanelle’s friendly face. She teaches the daily lessons we offer in our discovery centres. She also coordinates many of the primary school and early high school courses. Many will already know Chanelle, especially if you have completed our Junior Biologist course, or the Ocean ‘Fun’atics online series. Chanelle enjoys interacting with our younger ocean enthusiasts and has a passion for environmental education.
During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her little daughter and other family outside in nature. She tries to also keep fit by running, walking or doing yoga. When not tending to her newly established veggie garden, Chanelle also likes learning new things. A new challenge is always welcome!

Wandiswa Jonga is a person that is passionate about the conservation of indigenous knowledge. Born in Queenstown, Eastern Cape, she has lived in three different provinces in South Africa and moved to Cape Town permanently in 2001. She started high school in Tafelsig High and had the amazing opportunity of joining Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden as an Assistant Education Officer. In Kirstenbosch, she had the opportunity to do a one-year, accredited Environmental Education Training Development Programme (EETDP). In this course she learned the necessary skills of creating an educational programme and fun educational resources. She joined the Two Oceans Aquarium in 2015 as a School group facilitator. Her duties include greeting our schools, counting their numbers, and also facilitating their payments. She also teaches in our courses and outreach programmes. Wandi is definitely a woman of many talents. In her spare time she loves reading, listening to music and spending quality time with her family.

Bianca Engel is the Deputy Head of Education at the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation.

She has a BSc degree, with a major in Zoology, from UCT and a Post Graduate Higher Diploma in Education ( Major in Mathematics and Science). Bianca started as a volunteer at the Two Oceans Aquarium 22 years ago. She is most passionate about sharing her love for the marine environment  with varying audiences and inspiring them to take action.

When not at work, Bianca enjoys spending time with friends and her extended family, by supporting local artists, exploring our city as a tourist, crocheting items or just spending time in nature.
