Awareness & education
At the Aquarium Foundation, we continue the 25-year legacy of quality marine education. Through our awareness and education programmes, we want to fulfil our vision of ‘connecting all people to the ocean’.
We host school groups, from pre-school university students, at the Two Oceans Aquarium. A visit to the Aquarium is enriched with an educational activity in one of our Discovery Centres, in our play centre, or in front of one of the beautiful exhibits.
We have three outreach programmes, that enable us to visit those schools who cannot visit us at the Aquarium. Our ‘Oceans in Motion’ and ‘Smart Living’ vans visit primary schools to teach them about the ocean and sustainability. Our Mobile Puppet Show team perform puppet shows and book readings at pre-schools, creches and primary schools.
Academic programmes and online courses
For those with a deeper thirst for knowledge about the ocean, we offer academice programmes at the Aquarium (currently suspended due to COVID-19), online courses available to anyone with an internet connection, and the Marine Sciences Curriculum course.
School outreach Fund
We rely on donations to be able to do more. With your donation we can invite a school to come for a visit to the Aquarium, or we can visit a school with one of our outreach programmes, or a child can take part in one of our online or on-site courses. Please consider making a once-off donation, or set up a recurring donation below.
You can become a monthly donor by joining our online Foundation Crew. We have three levels, with something for every age group. For R100/month, Cool and Pro Crew members get exclusive access to monthly webinars, activity & fact sheets, and an episode of our online webseries. For R100/month, Mini Crew members get to watch our amazing Spunky Sea Stories, an online, educational webseries with a different theme every week.
